Another reason to oppose regulation …

From the Des Moines Register, PETA files new complaint against slaughterhouse: “An animal rights organization is calling on Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Patty Judge to begin legal proceedings against a kosher slaughterhouse in Postville. … People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, or PETA, alleges that Agriprocessors Inc. has violated state law that requires the use of humane methods of slaughter. The organization planned to file a formal complaint with Judge on Monday.”

Further down, the article notes that the Orthodox Union was also named. This is an example of PETA’s outlandish views on the rights of animals. If the government finds merit in the complaint, it will also become an example of the heavy hand of regulation used against a small minority population to deprive them of their cultural practices. That meat slaughtered according to kashrut is even capable of being subject to government regulation is silly. If kashrut is subject to government regulation, as PETA suggests, that would be well beyond silly.
