my thoughts from right to left

Wrapped tefillin in the airport.

with one comment

The earliest Shema meant I wrapped tefillin in the small Illinois airport in Moline. I wonder if the conspicuous Star of David helped me avoid unwanted attention – since I obviously was not a Muslim. Only one guy – on the left – greeted me after I was done. No questions.

  1. While putting on tefillin in public is likely to arouse attention in places where people are not familiar with traditional Jewish practices, it has always been due to curiosity. I still find it surprising, that tefillin should raise suspicions.
